Tim
Taylor's Hot Rods -
Tim Taylor (Tim Allen) the host of the
Detroit cable home improvement show "Tool Time" on the situation
comedy HOME
IMPROVEMENT/ABC/1991-99 was crazy about hot rods. He spent much of his
leisure time working in his home garage restoring or building from
scratch some really cool vintage automobiles.
One of Tim's first hot
rods was a 1933 blue Ford roadster convertible
(a.k.a. "Blue Goose") with a rumble seat. Its
license plate read: "2L TIME." In February of
1999, Tim finished another of his hot rods. It
was a 1946 Ford convertible sporting a ruby red
pearl paint job and a 225hp engine with 5500rpm.
The interior upholstery was distressed and
featured German canvas.
When not working on
his own hot rods, Tim serviced his wife's (Jill)
car, a red
Chevy Nomad Station Wagon (license plate 964-J57). Tim once
totaled the Nomad when a steel I-beam suspended
from a crane accidentally dropped on the car.
Jill later got a 1966 Austin Healy that initially
upset Tim because of his "Buy American" sensibilities, but
Tim soon learned to love that car as well.
