Winthrop Cup Award - "Captain of the Year" award on the romance comedy THE LOVE BOAT/ABC/1977-86. This large silver cup was awarded to Captain Merrill Stubing (Gavin MacLeod) during the 1985 season. He was the 53rd recipient of this award presented by the cruise ship line for which he worked. It was named after a philanthropist, millionaire playboy.
