John Steed - Being
the traditional drink of the British it should be no surprise
that tea was a common beverage of agent John Steed (Patrick
Macnee) on the espionage adventure THE AVENGERS/ABC/1966-69.
Whereas the likes of secret agent James Bond preferred his
martini shaken not stirred, Steed preferred his tea with three
lumps of sugar, stirred anti-clockwise. This trivia bit was
passed along by the departing Mrs. Peel (Diana Rigg) to her
replacement Tara King (Linda Thorson) on the staircase outside
Steed's apartment on the episode "The Forget-Me-Knot."
