Luther the Pigeon - An aging pigeon seen on the medical drama ST. ELSEWHERE/NBC/1982-87. Luther was the pet of Luther Hawkins (Eric Laneuville), a black orderly working for St. Eligius hospital in Boston. Luther (the orderly) had found Luther (the pigeon) sitting on a Paul Revere statue in the rain. He took the pigeon home with him and let it live in his closet. During a 1986 episode, Elliot Axelrod (Stephen Furst), a plump, anxiety-ridden hospital physician, bird sat for Luther Hawkins and accidentally killed the pigeon when a radio fell into the bird's wash basin and electrocuted it.
