Filmed series - The first "filmed" series made especially for television was PUBLIC PROSECUTOR (filmed in 1947-48) a series of 26 seventeen and a half minute mysteries starring John Howard as a prosecuting attorney and Anne Gwynne as his assistant. Later on the Dumont network in 1951-52, the program was turned into a 30-minute "Who Done It?" program where a celebrity panel was shown a mystery almost to conclusion. The celebrity panel then had to guess the guilty party. Hosted by Warren Hull, the series was also known as CRAWFORD MYSTERY THEATRE.
