Network Cooperation - The first collaboration between a network (ABC) and a cable programmer (Nickelodeon) occurred in the production and distribution of the sitcom HI HONEY, I'M HOME/ABC/1991-92.

The program aired both on the ABC network and then later the same week on the NICKELODEON cable channel. By sharing cost, both saved money and Nickelodeon got free advertising on the ABC networks.

In the fall of 1991, CBS network shared production costs with the action adventure show SILK STALKINGS with USA cable network. And the MTV music channel celebrated their 10th anniversary special on the ABC network. In essence, an hour long ad for the cable MTV network.
