Dynasty Clothing Line - TV producers
have long been licensing names and characters of shows. The
popular prime time serial DYNASTY/ABC/1981-89 successfully
merchandised "After Six" rental tuxedo's modeled after those worn
by oil mogul, Blake Carrington (John Forsythe).
The seductress Alexis Carrington (Joan Collins) wrapped herself
in Cannon Mills Sheets with product line called "Stolen Passion"
and "Scarlet Secrets."
Other products were the $10,000 DYNASTY furs, the $1,000 DYNASTY
evening dresses, and the $15 DYNASTY panty hose. The fancy priced
lingerie from $50 to $600 lost money, however. It seemed people
didn't want to buy expensive lingerie with a soap opera label on it.

The competing program DALLAS/ABC/1978-91 also entered into the
licensing fray with clothing and fragrance under the label "Southfork"
named after the family home of the oil rich Ewing family.
