Corny
the Clown - The pseudonym of Bob Keeshan (a.k.a. "Captain
Kangaroo") when he took the job as Corny the Clown, the host of a
noontime children's program called TIME FOR FUN broadcast on the
WABC-TV in New York City in the early 1950s. Sitting on a park bench
with a cocker spaniel by his side, Corny the Clown gently talked to
the kids between cartoons.
Bob Keeshan had previously been Clarabell
the clown on the NBC children's program HOWDY DOODY until he left
