Cookin' with Dave's Mom - Dorothy Letterman, the diminutive grey-haired
mother of late night talk show host David Letterman published this book of
recipes and childhood recollections with the assistance of staff writer Jess
Cagle. Published by Pocket Books, "Home Cookin' with Dave's Mom" contains such
hearty heartland dishes as Ham Loaf, Coca-Cola Cake, Sauerkraut Balls, and Uncle
Earls' Creamed Chipped Beef on Tater Tots.
Also included is Dave's favorite Fried Baloney Sandwich recipe, which Dorothy
once prepared on-the-air when her son asked for instructions on how to make it;
and her Sour Cherry Pie that Dorothy usually makes for Dave's birthday. The book
is also filled with memories from Dorothy's own Indiana childhood and plenty of
personal family photos such as Dave selling lemonade, and playing baseball.
