M-113 Creature - Salt vampire from the planet M-113 on episode No.6 "The Man Trap" (9/8/66) on the sci-fi series STAR TREK/NBC/1966-69. The M-113 creature sustained its existence by sucking the saline substances from the bodies of its unsuspecting victims. It trapped its prey by reading their minds and then assuming a hypnotic image of the one person who would least likely do them any harm. With this devastating weapon, the small-eyed hairy creature with a mouth that resembled a vacuum cleaner hose with teeth, killed Nancy Crater (Jeanne Bal), the wife of an archaeologist Robert Crater (Alfred Ryder) stationed at an isolated outpost on the planet surface. The monster allowed Crater to live as long as he supplied it with salt. When the starship USS Enterprise made a routine visit to M-113, the vampire murdered one of the starship's crew. In the guise of the scientist's wife, an old friend of the starship's physician Dr. Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley), the monster beamed up to the ship and began to attack the ship's 440 members. It was destroyed by Doctor McCoy when he finally realized that the woman he saw was a deadly impostor.
