Dirty
Dancing - Inspired by the motion picture Dirty Dancing (1987)
starring Patrick Swayze, the CBS network aired the comedy/drama adaptation DIRTY
DANCING/CBS/1989.
Set in 1963 at a Catskills summer mountain resort, the series starred Patrick
Cassidy as sexy dance instructor, Johnny Castle; Melora Hardin as Francis "Baby" Kellerman
(16), the boss' daughter and talent coordinator; McLean Stevenson as Max Kellerman, the manager of Kellerman's Mountain Resort, Constance Marie as Penny
Rivera, Johnny's Latin dance partner; John Wesley as Sweets Walker, the resort's
piano player; Paul Feig as Norman Bryant, a pre-med student working as a
waiter/bellhop; Charlie Stratton as Neil Mumford; and Mandy Ingber as Baby's
boy-crazy cousin, Robin.
The highlight of each show was the sensual "dirty dancing" numbers.
