 McGruff the Crime Dog - Animated
canine cop dressed in a trenchcoat who implores all good citizens to
'Take a bite out of crime." Assisted by his nephew, Scruff, McGruff
the Crime Dog teaches children about such issues as bullies, drugs,
weapons, violence, and dangerous strangers.
The McGruff character
was created by the Dancer Fitzgerald Sample ad agency (now Saatch &
Saatchi) in 1978 for the Ad Council.
McGruff is the spokesdog for The National Crime
Prevention Council, a national, non-profit organization that is
working to prevent people from becoming victims of crime and helping
to build better communities.
