During each program human host Steven Burns works his way a through a set of clues left by Blue the Dog. To solve the clues, Steve often relies on household items such as Mr. Salt and Mr. Pepper to help him figure out the mystery of the day. In 1998, Blue celebrated her birthday on "Puppy's Puzzle Party" that featured such guest as Rosie O'Donnell, twins Tia and Tamara Mowry and singer Gloria Esteban.
