Underdog - Superhero dog featured
on the animated cartoon UNDERDOG/NBC/CBS/1964-73.

Underdog (voice of
Wally Cox) is the alter ego of a humble, mild-mannered dog named
Shoeshine Boy who lives in Washington, D.C.
Wearing a
red monogrammed shirt sporting a large letter U, and a blue cape,
Underdog soars through the air to battle the likes Batty Man,
Captain Marblehead, Fearo the Ape, underworld boss Riff Raff and
evil scientist Simon Bar Sinister.
Underdog's arsenal of powers include super-strength,
super-hearing and X-ray vision. Our heroic canine's catchphrase is
"There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!"
Underdog's girlfriend is TV reporter Sweet Polly Purebred (voice
of Norma McMillan) who cries "Oh where, Oh where has my Underdog
gone?" in times of crisis. Sensing her peril Underdog proclaims
"Hark! When Polly calls, I am not slow -- It's Hip! Hip! Hip! and
away I go!"
