Buddy the Wonder Dog - Shaggy gray and white mutt seen on the sitcom TAXI/ABC/NBC/1978-83. Buddy, a lethargic 19-year-old dog (133 to you and me) lived with New York cabdriver Alex Rieger (Judd Hirsch). Alex's sister, who lived in the suburbs, initially took Buddy from Alex to give the dog a better living environment, but now that the dog was old (with diabetes and kidney problems), Alex decided to take him back to live with him in his apartment. Alex considered Buddy to be "The smartest dog that ever lived!" His best trick (in his younger days) was to fall down and play dead when Alex pretended to shoot him. Taxi dispatcher Louis De Palma (Danny DeVito) however remembered Buddy as the "Hound from Hell...a Devil Dog." When Buddy died at the veterinarian's office, Alex returned to work. The final scene of the program  found Alex sitting on a bench at the Taxi company with leash in hand and crying. The dog's real name was Tucker.
