The X-FilesX-Philes - The nickname of the fans of the occult/sci-fi drama THE X-FILES/FOX/1993-2002. The "phile" derived from the Greek word philos, meaning "to love." The program featured the exploits of Oxford-educated FBI agent Fox :"Spooky" Mulder (David Duchovny) and his partner, forensic pathologist Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) who were assigned to the "X-Files, criminal cases that focused on paranormal investigations. A large Houston-based fan club is calling themselves "Tex-Philes"  And there is also a group of X-File fans that call themselves "Shippers." The term is derived from the word "Relationship," that is, the potential  relationship between Mulder and Scully. In general, the "Shippers" think that Mulder and Scully were made for each other and they monitor with anticipation, the developing romantic chemistry between the two characters.  TRIVIA NOTE: For a fun look at the X-Files phenomenon check out the film X-Philes (2000). Directed by Marie Bowens and Christopher Clements, this documentary features interviews with the X-Files actors, fans of the TV show, and with Chris Carter, the show's creator.
