Dagwood Sandwich - Oversized sandwich created by Dagwood Bumstead in comic strips, movies and the TV series BLONDIE/NBC/1957/CBS/1969. How do you make a Dagwood Sandwich? It's easy. Follow these instructions:

• Get some bread.

• Open up the refrigerator.

• Scavenge the interior for whatever looks edible.

• Begin stacking up ingredients onto one piece of bread until it becomes obvious that the sandwich is too tall to be easily placed into your mouth,

• Then top off with remaining slice of bread.

Akin to the Dagwood Sandwich, is the Hero Sandwich (a.k.a. Grinders, Hoagies, Subs or Zeps) once described as "a noble edifice built of meats, cheeses, fish (preserved or pickled) and fresh vegetables and greens, all stuffed into a whole long loaf of bread and laved generously with oil, herb-flecked vinegar and other delicious lubricants" (Saturday Evening Post, 1955).
