Laura Petrie's Jewelry - On episode No. 13-"Empress Carlotta's Necklace" on the sitcom THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW/CBS/1961-66 comedy writer Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) gives his lovely wife, Laura (Mary Tyler Moore) a huge, horrible necklace for a gift, but Laura cannot bring herself to tell him that it is just too ugly. On episode No. 145 "The Curse of the Petrie People" Rob Petrie's parents give Laura, a family heirloom (a brooch) shaped like the United States that has been in the family for generations. Unfortunately, soon after receiving the garish gift, the brooch accidentally(?) gets ground up in the garbage disposal. On episode No. 48 "Ray Murdock's X-Ray", Laura accidentally bakes her wedding ring into a muffin.
