"There's a Brand New Baby
at Our House" - One of the most awaited
events during the early 1950s was the birth of
Little Ricky on the sitcom I LOVE
LUCY/CBS/1951-61.

On January 19, 1953 both Lucille Ball and her
character Lucy Ricardo gave birth to a bouncing
baby boy. After the filmed birth of TV's "Little
Ricky," Lucille Ball was ushered to the hospital
the same night to deliver her real second child
Desiderio Alberto Arnaz IV (a.k.a. "Desi, Jr.").
In commemoration of the blessed event Desi
Arnaz recorded "There's a Brand New Baby at Our
House." It reached the Top Ten on the records
charts. Sung in I Love Lucy #45, "Sales
Resistance"
TRIVIA NOTE: On
episode No. 50 "Lucy is Enciente" when Lucy
finally told her husband that she was pregnant
Ricky sang the song "We're Having A Baby, My
Baby And Me" with the lyrics stating "We're
adding a limb to our family tree..." Sung in
"The I Love Lucy Christmas Show" Both of the
above songs are available on
Babalu Music! I Love Lucy's Greatest Hits
(1991; Columbia).
There's A Brand
New Baby At Our House
(Background Singers)
We just had a baby at our house
it's plain to see Now we've got a baby at our
house
My baby and me
(Desi)
There's a brand new baby at our house,
The nicest little gift we've ever had
He's a precious sugarplum, how much closer we've
become
Since we call each other Mommy and Dad
There's a brand new baby at our house,
And though he's been there just a little while
In the parlor in the hall, every picture on the
wall
Seems to know because they all wear a smile
I can't explain what he does to my heart with
his infant charms
I never knew what heaven was, 'til I held an
angel in my arms There's a brand new baby at our
house,
He's twice as sweet as honey from the comb,
He's the image of my spouse,
He's the tricky Mickey Mouse
Who has changed our happy house to a home
We thank the Lord who's love and wondrous powers
Gave us this brand new, brand new, baby of ours
We're Having a
Baby, My Baby and Me
We're having a baby My baby and me
You'll read it in Winchell
That we're adding a limb to our family tree
While pushing that carriage How proud I will be
There's nothing like marriage
Ask your father and mother and they'll agree
He'll have toys, baby clothes
He'll know he's come to the right house
By and by when he grows Maybe he'll live in the
White House
Our future looks brighter But definitely
We're having a baby
We're having a baby
We're having a baby
My baby and me.
