Baltimore Police Department (BPD) - The police drama HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET/NBC/1993-2000 followed the day-to-day life of the Baltimore Homicide Division (a.k.a. "Murder Police"). The duty roster included Yaphet Kotto as supervisor Lt. Al Giardello; Isabella Hofmann as Lt./Capt./Det. Megan Russert; Melissa Leo as Det. Sgt. Kay Howard; Daniel Baldwin as Det. Beauregard 'Beau' Felton; Richard Belzer as Det. John Munch; Ned Beatty as Det. Stanley Bolander; André Braugher as Det. Francis Xavier "Frank" Pembleton; Reed Diamond as Det. Michael Scott "Mike" Kellerman; Peter Gerety as Det. Stuart Gharty; Clark Johnson as Det. Meldrick Lewis; Jon Polito as Det. Steve Crosetti (committed suicide); Kyle Secor as rookie Det. Timothy "Tim" Bayliss; and Jon Seda as Det. Paul Falsone.

TRIVIA NOTE: The series is based on the writings of Baltimore Sun reporter David Simon who joined the Baltimore Police Homicide Unit as a civilian assistant in 1988 to chronicle a year in the life of a big city homicide squad. His notes, interviews, and observations were eventually published as the book Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets.
