M Squad - A group of elite plainclothes detectives working for the Chicago Police Department combating crime on the police drama  M SQUAD/NBC/1957-60. The force was lead by a very tough loner, Detective Lt. Frank Ballinger (Lee Marvin). Years later, the police drama CRIME STORY/NBC/1986-88 featured an elite cop squad called the MCU (Major Crime unit) that went after big scores and high ticket crooks in the city of Chicago and starred Dennis Farina (a real 18 year veteran of the police force) as Lt. Michael Torello.
