NY District Attorney  - The police/legal drama LAW & ORDER/NBC/1990+ focused on the arrest and conviction of criminals in the New York court system. The process was divided into two categories. First the detectives did the initial research in a crime and then the District Attorney's office took the facts gathered by the police to court in pursuit of a conviction.

The police officers conducting the investigations included Christopher Noth as Det. Michael "Mike" Logan; George Dzundza as Det. Sgt. Max Greevey; Paul Sorvino as Det. Sgt. Phil Cerreta; Jerry Orbach as Det. Leonard "Lennie" Briscoe; Benjamin Bratt as Det. Reynaldo "Rey" Curtis; Dann Florek as Capt. Donald Cragen; and S. Epatha Merkerson as Lt. Anita Van Buren. The staff of the New York District Attorney's office included Steven Hill as D.A. Adam Schiff; Michael Moriarty as Asst. D.A. Benjamin "Ben" Stone; Sam Waterston as Asst. D.A. Jack McCoy; Richard Brooks as Asst. D.A. Paul Robinette; Jillian Hennessy as Asst. D.A. Claire Kincaid (killed in car crash); Carey Lowell as Asst. D.A. Jamie Ross; Angie Harmon as Asst. D.A. Abbie Carmichael; and Carolyn McCormick as Dr. Elizabeth Olivet.

TRIVIA NOTE: The legal drama ARREST & TRIAL/ABC/1963-64 followed a similar format with Ben Gazzara as Sergeant Nick Anderson; Roger Perry as Det. Kirby; Noah Keen as Det. Bone; Chuck Connors as Public Defender John Egan; and John Larch as Prosecutor Jerry Miller.
