San Francisco Police Departmen (SFPD) - The police dramas IRONSIDE, MCMILLAN & WIFE, THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO and NASH BRIDGES helped promote both the law enforcement agencies in the City of San Francisco as well as advertised the enchanting tourist attractions in the City by the Bay.

  • The police drama IRONSIDE/NBC/1967-75 starred Raymond Burr as Robert T. Ironside, chief of detectives injured in the line of duty by an assassins bullet (paralyzed). The Chief returned to duty as a special consultant assisted by a wheel chair, and a handicapped accessible van. His support staff included Don Galloway as Det. Sgt. Ed Brown; Barbara Anderson as policewoman Eve Whitefield; Elizabeth Bauer as policewoman Fran Belding, Eve's replacement; and Don Mitchell as Don Sanger, the chief's personal assistant who pushed his wheelchair and drove his van.
     

  • The police drama MCMILLAN & WIFE/NBC/1971-77 followed the exploits of San Francisco Police Commissioner Stewart McMillan (Rock Hudson) as he juggled his police responsibilities and his home life with his wife, Sally (Susan Saint James). John Shuck costarred as Sgt. Charles Enright, the Commissioner's right hand man. After Sally McMillan died in a plane crash, Enright got promoted to Lieutenant and a new assistant named Sgt. Steve DiMaggio (Richard Gilliland) came on board to help McMillan.
     

  • THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO/ABC/1972-77 followed the trail of veteran police Det. Mike Stone (Karl Malden) working for the Bureau of Inspectors Division of the SFPD. He was assisted by rookie partner Inspector Steve Keller (Michael Douglas) who did the running and climbing up all those steep hills in Frisco. When Keller left the force to become a teacher, Mike Stone teamed with Inspector Dan Robbins (Richard Hatch).
     

  • The 1990s returned actor Don Johnson (of MIAMI VICE fame) to the police drama NASH BRIDGES/CBS/1996-2001 about Nash Bridges, a smart-alecky police inspector who fights crime on the streets of San Francisco, while driving in his yellow 1970s Plymouth Hemi Barracuda. Cheech Marin costarred as Nash's police partner Joe Dominguez. Also featured were Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Lt. A. J. Shimamura; Jaime Gomez as Evan Cortez; Jeff Perry as Harvey Leek; Kelly Hu as Michelle Chan; Yasmine Bleeth as Caitlin Cross; Serena Scott-Thomas as Kelly Weld; Julianne Christie as Bonnie Leek; Clarence Clemons as Big Barry; Mary Mara as Bryn Carson; and Daniel Roebuck as Richard Bettina.
