The series follows the
exploits of two veteran
lawmen trying to keep the peace amidst an
onslaught of rich and famous who have made their
once quiet hamlet a popular destination.
The sheriff of Twilight is
Cody McPherson (Richard Farnsworth), a calm, wise, soft spoken
fellow
while his
Deputy Bill Huntoon (Wilfred Brimley) is boisterous and
cantankerous. Together, these
crusty senior citizens provide security and comfort to the condos and
celebrities who now populated their resort town. The license for
their 4x4 is 56148.
Other citizens in Twilight included:
- Louise Fletcher as Genelva McPherson. Cody's wife
- Amanda McBroom as Mayor Suzanne Troxell
- Ben Browder as Deputy Tyler Clare, the preppy nephew of the mayor who faints whenever he hears a loud sound.
He wants to modernize the force, but old-school Cody and Bill have
other thoughts on the matter.
- Bessy, Bill's dog
TRIVIA NOTE: Ben Browder later
starred in two sci-series, including FARSCAPE
(1999) and STARGATE SG-1 (2005).
Wilfred Brimley is remembered for his Quaker
Oats commercials and his diabetes
supplies TV spots (he is a diabetic).
The series was originally titled CODY & BILL:
THE GREY GUNS.
Obituaries: Richard Farnsworth: 10/06/2000
