Clinton Corners, Georgia - The rural
situation comedy CARTER COUNTRY/ABC/1977-79 starred Victor French as
Chief Roy Mobey, a redneck police chief from the small Georgia town
of Clinton Corners (located near Plains Georgia, the home of
President Jimmy Carter).

Assisting the Chief were:
- Kene Holliday as Sgt. Curtis Baker, an African-American from from the
North
who was trained in big city crime techniques and often at odds with his white
backwoods "good old boy" boss.
- Harvey Vernon as Deputy Jasper DeWitt, Jr.
- Gulch Koock as Deputy Harley Puckett
- Barbara Cason as Policewoman Cloris Phebus
Besides his police staff, the Chief had to contend with Mayor Teddy
Burnside, a chubby, wimp of a politician who ran Burnside Savings
and Loans. His catchphrase was "Handle It!"
Others citizens of Clinton Corners included:
- Vernee Watson as Lucille Banks, the Mayor's black secretary and love
interest (and later wife) of Deputy Curtis Baker.
- Melanie Griffith as Tracy Quinn, a cub reporter
- Amzie Strickland as Julia Mobley, the Chief's wife
