Willie Wonderful - The story of a
young boy seen on 195 episodes of the children's
series WILLIE WONDERFUL/SYN/1952.
The fifteen minute program aired Tue 5:30-5:45 p.m., 30 Dec
1952-19 May 1953. The cliffhanger adventures featured stories for
children told with marionettes. Eddie Bracken (1920-2002) provided
the voice of Willie Wonderful.
Other puppet members included Phineas Q. Throckmorton, Eleanor the
Elephant and Girard the Giraffe.
Segments of the WILLIE WONDERFUL program later aired on
TIME FOR FUN (aka, The Johnny Jellybean Show).
Seen weekday mornings and weekday afternoons
on Channel 7 from Monday, August 1, 1955 until Friday, June 2,
1960, the program featured "Uncle Joe" Bova and "Johnny
Jellybean" (portrayed by Bill Britten and later by Keith Hefner)
who entertained viewers with "The Van Bruen/Rainbow, Felix The
Cat", "Molly Moo Cow", "Toonerville Trolley", "Flip The Frog" and
"Willie Whooper" movie cartoons.
