Wally Gator -
Green Everglades alligator with hat, white collar and French
cuffs who lived at the zoo on the Hanna-Barbara cartoon series
WALLY GATOR/SYN/1963.
This Wally spoke in a silly Ed Wynn-like voice (Daws Butler).
His catchphrase is "Fiddle-dee-doo." When he wasn't trying to
leave the zoo (cannon shoot himself over the walls), Wally
performed daily chores for Mr. Twiddle (Don Messick), a
mustachioed zoo keeper. Wally first appeared in 52 five-minute
cartoons that were part of a component series (like Touche
Turtle, and Lippy the Lion) on the THE HANNA-BARBERA
NEW CARTOON SERIES/SYN/1962-63. Wally Gator was also the name of
the alligator pet of Captain "Howling Mad" Murdock (Dwight
Schultz), an allegedly insane member of THE A-TEAM/NBC/1983-87.
"Wally Gator is a swingin' navigator in the swamp!
He's the greatest percolator when he really starts to romp.
There has never been a greater operator in the swamp!
See ya later, Wally Gator!"
