Transformers - Group of robotic
warriors from the planet Cybertron who used the Earth as a
battleground to defeat their million-year-old nemesis called the
Decepticons on the science fiction cartoon TRANSFORMERS/SYN/1984-85.

Both Transformers and Decepticons had the ability to "transform"
their bodies into all sorts of objects, including cars, trucks and a
variety of military equipment.
As the series theme song intoned these outer space aliens were "More
than meets the eye."
Opening Narration
"Many millions of years ago, on the planet Cybertron, life existed.
But, not life as we know it today. Intelligent robots, that could
think and feel inhabited the cities. They were called Autobots and
Decepticons. But, the brutal Decepticons were driven by a single
goal, total domination. They set out to destroy the peace-loving
Autobots, and a war between the forces of good and evil raged across
Cybertron. Devastating all in it's path. Draining the planet's once
rich sources of energy. The Autobots, on the verge of extinction,
battle valiantly to survive."

The Transformers
The series concept continued with TRANSFORMERS: GENERATION
II/SYN1993 (revamped 1984 episodes) and later in the 1990s with
BEAST WARS: TRANSFORMERS/SYN/1996 as giant animals (Maximals)
transformed via computer morphing technology into fighting robots
who thwart the evil Predacons from taking over the galaxy.

The Hasbro Toys company successfully merchandised replicas of these
animated characters; and Hanna-Barbera/TeleRep produced a similar
series CHALLENGE OF THE GOBOTS/SYN/1985 about robots from the planet
Gobotron now living on Earth who battled their arch enemies the
Cykills.
