Finagle's Law - Law quoted to Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) by starship Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) on episode No. 34 "Amok Time" on the sci-fi adventure STAR TREK/NBC/1966-69. Finagle's Law read: "Any home port the ship makes will be somebody else's...not mine. Ship Physician, Dr. Leonard McCoy created a potent alcoholic beverage which he called "Finagle's Folly."

TRIVIA NOTE: The original title of the Star Trek episode "Shore Leave" was "Finagle's Planet." The real "Finagle's Law (of Dynamic Negatives)" states "If anything can go wrong, it will" This law is sometimes erroneously called "Murphy's Law." The actual Murphy's law reads: "If there are two or more ways of doing something, and one of them can lead to catastrophe, then someone will do it. (attributed to Captain Edward A. Murphy, an Air Force engineer in 1949 while working at Edwards Air Force Base). During Spock's memory test in the film Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) he recited Kiri-kin-tha's First law of Metaphysics that states "Nothing unreal exists."
