Serenity - Small transport spaceship
that resembles a firefly on the sci-fi series FIREFLY/FOX/2002-2004. Set in
the year 2517 A.D. in a world following a civil war that created the
totalitarian Union of Planets, the spacecraft Serenity travels the
corridors of space under the radar of the Alliance in search of cargo to
transport –- legal or not.
The men
and women of the Serenity crew consists of Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds (Nathan Fillion),
"The Captain," a former soldier who opposed the unification of the planets by the
Alliance; Zoe (Gina Torres), "The Soldier" whose life was saved by
the Captain during the war; Wash (Alan Tudyk), "The Pilot," Zoe's husband; Kaylee Frye,
"The Mechanic"; Jayne (Adam Baldwin), "The Mercenary"; Simon Tam (Sean Maher), "The Doctor"; River Tam (Summer Galu), "The Fugitive," Simon's psychic sister; Book (Ron Glass), "the Shepherd," a sage priest; and Inara (Morena Baccarin),
and "The
Ambassador," a high-class courtesan companion (prostitute) residing
onboard the ship.
The crew of the
space craft Serenity continued their adventures in the
theatrically released 2005 motion picture Firefly: The Movie
directed by Josh Whedon.
