O.S.S. -
World War II Intelligence agency featured on the
wartime drama O.S.S/ABC/1957-58.

During the Second World War, the Allies
developed the O.S.S. (Office of Strategic
Services) to gather intelligence on their
enemies.
Filmed in England and France, the series starred
Ron Randall as Captain Frank Hawthorne who worked
with the Allied Resistance to battle the Nazis behind
enemy lines in France. He was assisted by Sergeant O'Brien
(Robert Gallico) and The Chief (Lionel Murton).
Each episode title began with the word
"Operation" such as "Operation Powder Puff,"
"Operation Death Trap" and "Operation Jingle
Bells."
TRIVIA NOTE:
The series (26 episodes) technical consultant/co-producer
was Colonel William Eliscu, a former O.S.S.
member.
In 1947, the United States
Congress passed the The National Security Act
that superseded
the O.S.S. and formed the C.I.A. (Central
Intelligence Agency).
