Superman - Located in Massac County in the small town of Metropolis, Illinois, stands a bronze (originally fiberglass) statue of the "Man of Steel" beside the old courthouse on Superman Square. Atop its pedestal, the statue commands a clear view down Main Street. The statue was crafted by a sculptor from Paducah, Kentucky whose works had been displayed primarily at local golf courses. The Superman character has appeared in the TV series ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN/SYN/1951-57; SUPERBOY/SYN/1988-91; LOIS & CLARK: THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN/ABC/1993-1999 and SMALLVILLE/WB/2001+.
