Iron Horse - Frontier locomotive featured on the western adventure IRON HORSE/ABC/1966-68.

Cast of THE IRON HORSE
Barnabas, Nils, Ben and Dave

Set in Wyoming of the 1870s, the series told the tale of the Buffalo Pass, Scalplock, and Defiance Line, a near bankrupt, half-finished railroad carrier struggling for survival amidst an onslaught of Indians, outlaws, crooked businessmen and rival railroad barons.

Regulars included:

Dale Robertson as Ben Calhoun, the owner of the railroad (who he won it in a poker game).
Gary Collins as Dave Tarrant, a construction engineer.
Roger Torree as Nils Torvald (Roger Torrey), a huge Scandinavian crewman.
Rob Random as Barnabas Rogers, a young orphan who idolized Ben and served as a clerk.
Ellen McRae as Julie Parsons, the freight station operator and proprietor of the Scalplock General Store.
Woodrow Parfrey as Holmes.

TRIVIA NOTE: The TV movie pilot for the series entitled Scalplock was first aired on The ABC Sunday Night Movie on April 10, 1966.

1924, John Ford directed a western film entitled The Iron Horse. Starring George O'Brien, the film chronicled the efforts of surveyor Davey Brandon, as he helps build the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railways across the western expanse of the United States in the year 1862.

The Native American Indians called the locomotive the "Iron Horse."
