This was the story of the Texas Rangers, as told in a variety of historical settings from the 19th and 20th centuries covering 120 years. Whatever the era, the Texas Rangers used the most modern crime detection techniques available at the time to track down their suspects.

Representing the Rangers in each episode were:

  • Willard Parker as Ranger Jace Pearson
  • Harry Lauter as Ranger Clayton Morgan

TRIVIA NOTE:  The series originally aired on NBC  radio from 1950-1952. It starred Joel McCrea as Ranger Jace Pearson who used the latest scientific techniques to identify the criminals. He rode a horse named Charcoal. Hal Gibney narrated the opening credits:

"The National Broadcasting Company presents Joel McCrae in 'Tales of the Texas Rangers'. Tonight transcribed from Hollywood another authentic reenactment of a case from the files of the Texas Rangers. 'Tales of the Texas Rangers' starring Joel McCrae as Ranger Jace Pearson. Texas more than 260,000 square miles. And 50 men who make up the most famous and oldest law enforcement body in North America. Now from the files of the Texas Rangers come these stories based on facts. Only names, dates and places are fictitious for obvious reasons. The events themselves are a matter of record."
