THE RANGE RIDER/SYN/1951-52 - Western adventure starring former stuntman Jock Mahoney (the real-life father of actress Sally "Gidget" Field) as the Range Rider, a Lone Ranger type frontier hero who roamed the west of the 1800s with his teenage sidekick, Dick West  (Dick Jones) known as "The All American Boy." (30 Minutes) 

RANGO/ABC/1967 - The misadventures of a bumbling Texas Ranger known as Rango (Tim Conway) stationed at Deep Wells Ranger Station in the Texas Territory of the late 19th century. His sidekick was Pink Cloud (Guy Marks), a cowardly Indian scout. (30 Minutes) 

RAWHIDE/CBS/1959-66 - Lead by trail boss, Gil Favor (Eric Fleming) and ramrod Rowdy Yates (Clint Eastwood), this western adventure told the story of cattle drovers who moved them doggies to market from San Antonio, Texas to Sedalia, Kansas in the days of 1860s. (60 Minutes) 

THE REAL WEST/A&E/1992 - Series devoted to such heroes and legends of the American frontier as Buffalo Bill, General Custer, Butch Cassidy and Sitting Bull. Kenny Rogers narrated this 13-part series which looks back at the Old West via vintage photos, paintings and diaries. 

THE REBEL/ABC/1959-61 - Nick Adams starred as Johnny Yuma, a proud ex-Confederate soldier who roamed the post Civil War west of the late 1860s in search of a new life. (30 Minutes)

RED RYDER/SYN/1956 - In the tradition of the LONE RANGER, lawman Red Ryder (Rocky Lane) and his Indian friend, Little Beaver (Louis Letteri) roamed the west of the 1800s maintaining law and order. Based on radio program of the same name. (30 Minutes) 

RENFREW OF THE ROYAL MOUNTED/SYN/1953 - James Newell starred as Canadian mounted police officer, Douglas Renfrew who patrolled the wilderness of the Yukon with the help of Constable Kelly (Dave O'Brien). The series was based on the stories by Laurie York Erskine. (30 Minutes)

THE RESTLESS GUN/NBC/1957-59 - This was the story of Vint  Bonner (John Payne), a restless drifter, proficient with a gun, who wandered the Southwest in search of adventure in the days following the Civil War. (30 Minutes) 

RIDERS IN THE SKY/CBS/1991-92 - Three hip cowpokes known as the Riders in the Sky starred in this live-action Saturday morning program of song, clay animation and silly storylines. The children's series featured the adventures of Woody Paul, Ranger Doug and Too Slim as they lived at the Melody Ranch in Tumbleweed Valley. (30 minutes). 

THE RIFLEMAN/ABC/1958-63 - The story of Lucas McCain (Chuck Connors), a widower homesteader with a lightning fast Winchester rifle as he raised his motherless son, Mark (Johnny Crawford) near the 1888 town of Northfolk, New Mexico. (30 Minutes) 

RIN TIN TIN (THE ADVENTURES OF)/ABC/1954-59  - Canine military adventure  (sponsored by National Biscuit Company) starring a German shepherd called Rin Tin Tin.  Rin Tin Tin was the canine companion of Rusty (Lee Aaker), a young boy orphaned when his parents were killed in an Indian raid. Adopted by a cavalry troop known as "The Fighting Blue Devils," Rusty (promoted to Corporal) and his pet RTT lived at Fort Apache, a frontier outpost located in the Arizona Territory of the late 1800's. Lt. Rip Masters (James Brown), Sgt. Biff O'Hara (Joe Sawyer) and Cpl. Boone (Rand Brooks) were Rusty and Rin Tin Tin's close friends. When trouble rose its ugly head, Corporal Rusty cried "Yo, Rinny!" and the heroic German shepherd leaped into action biting bad guys, fighting wild animals and saving people from disasters.

RIVERBOAT/NBC/1959-61 - The adventures of the Enterprise, a 100-foot steamboat that roamed the major rivers of the early frontier. At the helm was owner/operator Captain Grey Holden (Darren McGavin). Burt Reynolds costarred as Ben Frazer, the boat's pilot, later replaced by Bill Blake (Noah Berry) who became a forty-nine percent partner with Captain Holden. (60 Minutes) 

THE ROAD WEST/NBC/1966-67 - The struggles of the Pride family, headed by Benjamin Pride (Barry Sullivan) who moved from Springfield, Ohio to a new homestead in Lawrence County, Kansas in the days following the Civil War. Family members included eldest son, Timothy (Andrew Prine); daughters, Midge (Brenda Scott) and Kip (Kelly Corcoran); Benjamin's new wife, Elizabeth Reynolds (Kathryn Hays); her brother, Chance Reynolds (Glenn Corbett); and Grandpa Pride (Charles Seel). (60 Minutes) 

THE ROAR OF THE RAILS - Railroad adventure sponsored by the A.C. Gilbert Company, makers of American Flyer model trains. The program showcased scenes of model trains and stories of railroad history. ROAR OF THE RAILS aired on CBS from October 1948 to December 1949.  (15 Minutes)

THE ROUGH  RIDERS/ABC/1958-59 - Western adventure featuring the unlikely alliance of two Union soldiers, Captain Jim Flagg (Kent Taylor) and Sergeant Buck Sinclair (Peter Whitney) and one Confederate officer, Lt. Kirby (Jan  Merlin) who together wandered westward in search of a new life following the devastation of the war between the states. (30 Minutes) 

THE ROUNDERS/ABC/1966-67 - Contemporary comedy western about two cowpokes Ben Jones (Ron Hayes) and Howdy Lewis (Patrick Wayne), as they work at a Texas ranch for the wealthy but unscrupulous Jim Ed Love (Chill Wills). (30 Minutes) 

THE ROUSTERS/NBC/1983-84 - The story of Wyatt Earp III, a descendant of the famous frontier sheriff, who worked for Captain Jack's Sladetown Carnival, a traveling sideshow. His sister Amanda (Maxine Stuart) did a little bounty hunting on the side. (60 Minutes) 

THE ROY ROGERS SHOW/NBC/1951-57 - Contemporary western adventure starring Roy "The King of the Cowboys" Rogers, as a rough and tumble sheriff who maintained law and order in the town of Mineral City with the assistance of his girlfriend Dale "Queen of the West" Evans; and a bumbling deputy sidekick Pat Brady who drove a dilapidated Jeep called Nellybelle. Animal sidekicks included Roy's horse, Trigger; Roy's German shepherd dog, Bullet; and Dale's horse, Buttercup. In 1955 sixty-seven of Rogers Republic feature films were syndicated into sixty-minute films by MCA Films. (30 Minutes) 

ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE/SYN/1960 - Northwest adventure with Gilles Pelletier as Corporal Jacques Gagnier, a member of the famed Canadian Mounted Police. Assisting him track down the bad guys were Constable Scott (John Perkins) and Constable Mitchell (Don Francks). (30 Minutes)
