 Jadzia
Dax - Female science officer on the science fiction adventure STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE
NINE/SYN/1993-99 Jadzia Dax (Terry Farrell) was a Trill-an alien
species who permitted a 356-year-old symbiont worm species to be
joined with her body. The sharing was beneficial for both species.
The host body shared the generations of experiences amassed by the
worm and the worm was guaranteed a nurturing host body to continue
its journey through the ages. When the humanoid host containing
the worm entity neared death, the worm was transplanted into
another host.
Space station Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks)
called Jadzia Dax "Old Man" because in a former incarnation the
Trill's host body was a male warrior. Jadzia sported a pattern of
leopard like spots that decorated her forehead and back.
She later
married a Klingon named Worf (Michael Dorn) but not before getting
plastered at her stag party which consisted of coed debauchery,
exotic male dancers and a poignant punching out of the groom's
meddling mother-in-law-to-be.
Jadzia died on the season finale of
the 1997-98 season. Her symbiont worm was transplanted into Ezri
Dax (Nicole de Boer), a student psychiatrist.
