Lucy's Martians - Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance played Martians on episode No. 1050/89 entitled "Lucy is Envious" broadcast March 29, 1954 on the sitcom I LOVE LUCY/CBS/1951-57. Not to be outdone by her wealthy friend who wanted Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball) to donate $500 to a charity, Lucy intended to earn the cash. Her friend, Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance) saw an advertisement in Billboard magazine that read: "Al Barton needs someone BRAVE for a publicity stunt involving a new movie Women from Mars. The salary: $500." Lucy and Ethel take the job and dress in Martian costumes consisting of black body stockings, bouncy antennas, and pointy noses. With ray guns in hand, Lucy and Ethel invaded the top of the Empire State Building. The stunt caused quite a commotion but raised the needed cash.
