Jill Taylor's Nomad
- Jill Taylor (Patricia Richardson), the wife
of Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor (Tim Allen) on
the sitcom HOME IMPROVEMENT/ABC/1991-99 owned
a 1955 red Chevy Nomad Station Wagon [License
plate 964-J57. Jill's husband, Tim, who loved
hot rods, routinely serviced the vehicle and
nagged Jill to take good care of the car -
like monitoring its vital fluids and oil
levels.
Unfortunately, on episode #76 "Don't Tell
Mamma" Tim totaled the Nomad when a steel
I-beam, suspended from a crane at one of his
TV show location sites, accidentally dropped
on the car. Of course, Tim quickly
reconstructed the car to save face and to keep
his wife from killing him.
A few years later, Jill owned a 1966 Austin
Healy This initially upset Tim because of his
"Buy American" sensibilities, but Tim soon
learned to love that car as well.

Jill Driving her Nomad
The following dialog is from episode #76 when
Tim prepares to get the Nomad fixed without his
wife knowing about it.

Tim: |
Where are your keys? |
|
Jill: |
What for? |
|
Tim: |
After I do that location "Tool Time" shoot, I take it
to my body shop guy. |
|
Jill: |
No, it's my car. I don't want you to take it. [Tim
picks up Jill's purse] Get your hands off
my purse! [Tim drops the purse] |
|
Tim: |
Just use the Mustang. |
|
Jill: |
Tim, just leave it alone. I'm fine with my car the
way it is. Mind your own business. |
|
Tim: |
You know what's going to happen? That scratch is
going to rust. That rust'll cause
corrosion which'll eat away at the car -
which'll in turn will eat away at me,
leaving me a sad, pathetic, worthless man
who just sits around the house moaning...
