Journalism & On-Air News Awards

Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Awards - Joint award presented by Alfred I. duPont and New York's Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism for "outstanding performance in radio & television journalism." The award was created by Jessie Ball duPont in 1942 as a tribute to the journalistic integrity and public-mindedness of her late husband, Alfred I. duPont. It has been administered by the Graduate School of Journalism since 1968. The PBS network began televising the duPont-Columbia Awards in 1977. The award is the broadcast equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize.
