Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Awards
- Joint award presented by Alfred I. duPont and New York's
Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism for
"outstanding performance in radio & television journalism." The
award was created by Jessie Ball duPont in 1942 as a tribute to
the journalistic integrity and public-mindedness of her late
husband, Alfred I. duPont. It has been administered by the
Graduate School of Journalism since 1968. The PBS network
began televising the duPont-Columbia Awards in 1977. The award
is the broadcast equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize.
