Duck - The alter ego of Drake Mallard (voice of Jim Cummings)
an average citizen who transformed himself into the "terror that
flaps in the night." Wearing a crimefighting costume reminiscent of
a 1940s style zoot suit with broad rimmed hat, double breasted suit,
mask and cap, Darkwing Duck battled wrongdoers with the assistance
of Launchpad McQuack, a goofy pilot; Gosalyn, Drake's nine-year-old
daughter; and Honker Muddlefoot, her brainy buddy. Darkwing's
catchphrase is "Let's get dangerous."
His enemies were the evil toy maker Quackerjack;
Reginald Bushroot, the half-duck, half-plant; Negaduck, Darkwing's
evil counterpart from another dimension, as well as the Liquidator,
Megavolt, Steelbeak, Moliarity, Tuskernini, Ammonia Pine, Ample
Grime, Splatterphoenix, Steerminator (Taurus Bulba).
Darkwing's heroes included such
detective icons as Hercule Parrot, The Unpluckables, and Sherlock
Homing Pigeon.
When not
fighting crime in his hometown of St. Canard, Darkwing offers his
assistance to the secret organization known as SHUSH who battle the
bad guys at FOWL (Fiendish Organization of World Larceny).
Darkwing's arsenal of gadgets/weapons included a gas gun, an
airplane called the Thunderquack and a motorcycle which DD calls the Ratcatcher.
The cartoon series DARKWING DUCK debuted on the Disney
Channel (part of the Disney Afternoon on ABC, starting from April
6th,1991) and later in syndication. It ran 90 episodes.
