Betty Lou, The - Sail boat featured on episode No. 72-"The Ballad of the Betty Lou" of the sitcom THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW/CBS/1961-66. The Betty Lou was jointly owned by comedy writer, Robert Petrie (Dick Van Dyke), and his dentist neighbor Jerry Helper (Jerry Paris). The episode began with Rob and Jerry buying a boat called the Betty Lou. Rob wanted to call it the "Shangri-La" but Jerry preferred "The Challenger." By the end of the episode, the boys had been lost at sea and saved by the Coast Guard
