Morning Wake-Up Program - The first early morning program 3 TO GET READY (a.k.a. "TTGR") made its debut as a (live) local weekday show on November 27, 1950 at WPTZ in Philadelphia. The program featured a young Ernie Kovacs who played records, read weather reports and ad-libbed his way through the program using all sorts of props thrown to him by off-camera crew members (prop budget $15). The program ran from 7:00-9:00 A.M.

The major networks soon followed with TODAY/NBC/1952+; THE MORNING SHOW/CBS/1954-57; THE CBS MORNING NEWS/CBS/1963+; and GOOD MORNING, AMERICA/ABC/1975+.
