Ketracel White - Addictive white fluid used by
the Jem'Hadar, a warrior class of aliens seen on the sci-fi series STAR TREK:
DEEP SPACE NINE/SYN/1993-99. The Jem'Hadar were the military force bred to fight
for the Dominion (a.k.a. "The Founders"), a formidable alien race of changelings
(shape-shifters).
The Jem'Hadar fighters were very low maintenance. They
required no sleep, no food, and no women. That alone would make anyone angry
enough to kill.
To control the Jem'Hadar, the Dominion genetically addicted
their soldiers to a milky white liquid known as Ketracel White (a.k.a. "The
White"). It contained a much needed protein not found in the Jem'Hadar's
physical makeup. If a Jem'Hadar ever went rouge, he would be denied his portion
of the White and soon die.

Before receiving their dosage, the Jem'Hadar are
required to renew their pledge of loyalty to the Dominion. When this was
secured, the keeper of "The White" proclaimed "Then receive the reward from the
Founders. May it keep you strong." Each Jem'Hadar warrior was then given a vile
of the life giving formula which attached to an intravenous tube that feed
directly into their neck.
In 2374, Starfleet Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery
Brooks) commanded a covert mission that successfully destroyed a Cardassian/Dominion
ketracel-white depot.
