Albert the Computer Albert - Computer generated cartoon character featured on science fiction comedy THE ABSENT-MINDED PROFESSOR/NBC/1988-89, a segment of THE MAGICAL WORLD OF DISNEY. Albert (resembling his Einsteinian namesake) appeared on an electronic monitor located in the laboratory of Professor Henry Crawford (Harry Anderson), the wacky inventor of Flubber. Albert's talking head played straight-man to the professor's pranks. In reality, Albert was a computer program created on the Hypercard application called "Hyper Animator" from Bright Star Technology. The Hyperanimation program coordinates image and sound to create talking heads on the computer monitor. By simply typing the words you want your "actor" to say, the Hyperanimator program converted the text into speech with the actor's mouth movements synchronized to the words. The Albert character was designed by Jay Johnson and Harry Anderson.
