Hippocrates - Talking, medical interface
computer on the science fiction series MERCY POINT/UPN/1998. First created
in the year 2200, Hippocrates (called "Hip") is linked to every operating
room in Mercy Point, a state-of-the-art medical space station perched on the
remote boundary of an unknown and "unstable" region of deep-space known as
the Sahartic Divide - about a month's journey from Earth.

2249, Mercy Point was designed to treat some 50,000 human and alien patients
who lived within a flotilla of independent space stations known collectively
Hippocrates was designed to provide doctors and other medical
staff with instantaneous background information and advice on all patients
at the Mercy Point medical facility. See also -
TRIVIA NOTE: Hippocrates was a Greek
physician born c. 460 BC on the island of Cos, Greece. He died in c. 377 BC.
Today Hippocrates is known as the "Father of Medicine". Medical school
graduates routinely take the "Hippocratic Oath" which governs the ethical
conduct of physicians today.
The oath, which contains the promise to "Do no harm" to patients, begins:
"I swear by Æsculapius, Hygeia, and Panacea, and I take to witness all the
gods, all the goddesses, to keep according to my ability and my judgment,
the following Oath...".
