Mister Ed's All-Purpose Dance - On the sitcom MISTER ED/SYN/CBS/1961-66, the talking golden palomino Mister Ed (voice of Rocky Lane) would sometimes do a special dance performed exclusively with his hind quarters. The steps were simple: step left, together; step right, together. To create a longer dance, the filmed left and right movements were just repeated. To get Mister Ed to do the Horse Hula, all you need was some Don Ho music and a grass skirt. Add a black wig and guitar and you've got the Twist. In a 1962 issue of TV Guide, Ed's trainer Les Hilton said "Why, it would take even a brilliant horse a couple of days to learn the Cooch, which is what they called the Twist several generations ago. Ed learned it in 20-minutes."
