Deputy Dawg - Portly, dim-witted white bulldog on the half-hour Terrytoons cartoon DEPUTY DAWG/SYN/1960. Speaking with a slow, Crazy Guggenheim-like Southern drawl, (voice of Dayton Allen) lawman Deputy Dawg tried to keep the peace in rural Mississippi. Local folks who interacted with the fumbling canine included Catfish Poachin' Pelican, Muskie the Muskrat, Pig Newton, Peach Pluckin' Kangaroo, the rascally Ty Coon the Raccoon and the visually-impaired Vincent "Vince" Van Gopher. Deputy Elmer, Dawg's young nephew assisted him on occasion. The Deputy Dawg character later appeared on THE DEPUTY DAWG SHOW/NBC/1971-72.
