Aladdin's Genie - Free-spirited, blue-skinned
genie with a beard featured on the children's animated fantasy DISNEY'S
ALADDIN/CBS/1993-95.

Genie (a.k.a. "Genie of the Lamp") originally lived in a
magic lamp in the Cave of Wonders. One day, a poor young boy named Aladdin
entered the cave and retrieved the lamp. When Aladdin rubbed the lamp, it summoned
the Genie
to appear.
After granting the traditional three wishes to the holder of the
lamp, Aladdin befriended the Genie and they had many adventures together which
included battling creatures, thieves and evil sorcerers and of, course their
nemesis Jafar who coveted the power of Genie's lamp for evil purposes.
Eventually, Aladdin settled down to become the prince of Agrabah.
Genie's
friends included Princess Jasmine (who married Aladdin), little Abu the monkey;
Jasmine's father, the Sultan, the magic flying carpet, and Iago the Parrot who
is constantly annoyed with all of Genie impressions, transformations and jokes.
"Please, kid, leave the intros to a professional. The one and only GENIE OF THE
LAMP! Rub-a-dub-dub the lamp and have your dearest wishes granted. Today's
winner is... Aladdin! Congratulations!"
TRIVIA NOTE: The series, which ran 86 episodes, is based on the feature length
Disney animated film Aladdin (1992) - with Robin Williams as the voice of
Aladdin, - and its sequels The Return of Jafar (1993) and the direct-to-video
Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996).
