Pierpont the Garden Gnome
- Red-capped gnome with a pipe featured on the drama
series GILMORE GIRLS/WB/CW/2000-2007.
Pierpont resides in the front yard of Babette Dell (Sally Struthers), who lives next-door to Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut with her husband, Morey (Ted Rooney).
Babette's gnome disappeared for a time until it was found in the bedroom of Luke's rebellious nephew, Jess Nariano (Milo Ventimiglia) who had stolen the gnome on a lark.
Episode: 1.02 " The Lorelais' First Day at Chilton
MOREY: Tell her about the gnome, baby.
BABETTE: They kicked the gnome.
LORELAI: What?
BABETTE: Right in the head!
MOREY: That's just not cool.
BABETTE: I wouldn't trust these boys. Gnome-kicking says a lot about a man's character.
Episode 2.05 - "Nick & Nora, Sid & Nancy."
BABETTE: It’s the darndest thing. I came out just now and I noticed that he was gone. Just like that.
LUKE: I’m sorry, who’s missing?
BABETTE: Pierpont, gorgeous.
LORELAI: Her gnome.
LUKE: Her gnome?
BABETTE: The one with the pipe.
LUKE: Oh.
BABETTE: Oh God, I hope nothing’s happened to him. You get so attached to their little faces, sometimes you can hear them talk to you at night.”
LUKE: You know, I wouldn't worry Babette. I think you're gonna see Pierpont again really soon. [walks to the front door]
LUKE: [Fed up with Jess] The weekends are for chores and selected pre-approved outings, i.e. cavalla studies, freeway beautification projects, Color Me Mine pottery painting, all discussible options. You will not steal, you will pay back Taylor Doose, you will graduate for high school, and you will return Pierpont to his yard [Luke found the gnome in Jess's closet].
Luke later defends his nephew at a town meeting as some irritated citizens complain: “He hooted my dance class… He took my garden hose… He stole my garden gnome…” Even Lorelai chimes in with “I’ve heard that he controls the weather and wrote the screenplay to Glitter!” See also - Gilmore, Lorelai
