Samantha the WitchSamantha the Witch - The beautiful blonde witch (Elizabeth Montgomery) married to Darrin Stephens (Dick York/Dick Sargent), an advertising executive who lived in the Connecticut suburbs at 1164 Morning Glory Circle on the sitcom BEWITCHED/ABC/1964-72. To placate her mortal husband, Samantha ("Sam") promised not to use her witchcraft powers (including time traveling, seeing the future and reading minds) but she was often unsuccessful in this endeavor. When something went wrong Samantha said "Oh, my stars! or "Witchcraft got you into this mess: I see no reason why witchcraft shouldn't get you out of it." Throughout the series, a number of witches and warlocks popped in and out including: Agnes Moorehead as Sam's mother, Endora; Maurice Evans as Sam's father (introduced on episode No. 10 "Just One Happy Family" 11-19-64); Bernard Fox as the family witch doctor, Dr. Bombay; Elizabeth Montgomery as Serena, Sam's mischievous twin sister (introduced on episode No. 54 "And Then There Were Three"); Erin and Diana Murphy as Tabitha and David and Greg Lawrence as Adam, the Stephens' children both of whom possessed supernatural magical powers; and a trio of goofy relatives including Marion Lorne as the forgetful Aunt Clara; Alice Ghostley as scatterbrained Esmerelda; and Paul Lynde as the prankster warlock Uncle Arthur. Samantha's mother once described the lot of a witch on episode No. 2 "Be It Ever So Mortgaged" saying "We are quicksilver, a fleeting shadow, a distant sound. Our home has no boundaries beyond which we cannot pass-we live in music-in a flash of color. We live on the wind and in the sparkle of a star." See also "Samantha Stephens"
